W5AC "Listserv"

W5AC currently maintains an electronic mailing list server, or "listserv", for discussion of club and amateur radio topics. You do not have to be a member of the club nor be present at Texas A&M University to subscribe to this service.

  • To subscribe to the W5AC mailing list, send e-mail to and in the body of the message, put the following:

    For example:

    Messages will then be sent to the address from which you sent this "subscribe" e-mail.

  • To unsubscribe from the W5AC mailing list, send e-mail to and in the body of the message, put the following:

    signoff w5ac

  • To send a message to all of the people on the list, send your e-mail to

Friends of W5AC Listserv (FoW5AC)

The Friends of W5AC listserv makes it easier to keep up with the growing list of former students and other friends of the Texas A&M Amateur Radio Club. The list server was set up by N7JXO. FoW5AC is maintained by K5FX.

  • To subscribe to the Friends of W5AC mailing list, send e-mail to

    and in the body of the e-mail, put the word "subscribe" in the first line of the message. Send it. You will get an acknowledgement of the subscription by e-mail, with a help file.

    Messages will then be sent to the address from which you sent this "subscribe" e-mail.

  • To unsubscribe from the FoW5AC mailing list, send an email and you will be taken off the list. Or simply follow the instructions for subscribing, above, but use the word "unsubscribe" instead. Remember to send this from the e-mail address that you subscribed with.

  • To send a message to all of the people on the list, send your e-mail to

The only people who can post are those subscribed to the list. All attachments are downloaded to the server and scanned for viruses. The virus scanner is updated every day. If someone sends a virus in an attachment, an email is sent back to them telling them they have a virus problem, and the message is deleted. Normal turnaround for mail messages is 1-2 minutes.
